Villanelle for a persistent daybreak in December

A soft and silver silence begs to stay.
The rustle of a cloak is faintly heard.
Emerging from the fog: a radiant ray.

Illuminated now: the disarray
of hurried, glittering, creatures, slightly blurred.
A soft and silver silence begs to stay.

A woman warm and whistling winds her way,
through fallen leaves and snow and whispered word.
Emerging from the fog: a radiant ray.

The misty milky morning melts away,
Sun streams and screams resistance is absurd
A soft and silver silence begs to stay.

A silent smoking someone seems to sway
In solace like a leper somehow cured.
Emerging from the fog: a radiant ray.

A woken world once molded out of clay
Unfolding, fluttering like a baby bird
A soft and silver silence begs to stay -
Emerging from the fog: a radiant ray.
