& Orientation is over. So tired.
It was a massive week of long days, alternating between busy as hell and boring as fuck because this semester's intake was fairly small. Was so good to hang out with the Oldie PNs like Marty and Kate and Joseph, and we had some seriously awesome Newies this time so there's lots of new FB friends bouncing around and hundreds of orange-shirted photos being tagged.
It wasn't until the Thursday that it really sunk in that this is my last Orientation, that after 2 years and 5 Orientations it's all over... as soon as I got home that night I bleached out the green and purple, and dyed my hair bright orange.
Other sad news in the week just gone is that my boss at the Union, Jen, has given notice. She's been offered an amazing opportunity to help run a start-up and I totally understand her moving on, but I'm going to miss her like all hell because she's a lovely person as well as an awesome boss. But she has also been telling me for the last yearish that I could totally do her job... so I'm going to apply for it. Its not great timing for me, starting a full-time job only 2 months before my thesis is due, but I think it's doable. And it's a job I'm sure I'd be good at, which I already have half the contacts and training for, and which I suspect would make me very happy.
Of course tomorrow marks the first of August, so grad offers should be announced soonish. Oh gods, I'm getting panicky at the mere thought of being a grown-up.
Results for last semester have been released and I am damn impressed with myself- HD for Honours Workshop, and a Distinction for Social Sciences. I've never had a 3.75 GPA before, fuck yeah!
Uni starts back tomorrow. I have no classes this semester, just that pesky thesis to write. I need to finalise my data collection and pull my finger out to start writing. My supervisor wasn't particularly happy when I told her I was taking July off because of Orientation, I suspect that she woudn't like knowing I'm going to be working 4 days a week at the Union for at least the next 2 weeks... going to take my laptop with me though, there'll be at least one other person there for those shifts so hopefully I can start sending out emails and maybe even do some chapter planning or drafting. I've been so slack it's not funny.
