Ironfest was awesome. The tent held up and was as comfy and roomy as planned. The doors need a smidge of work to get the hang right, and the group need practice so we can become moe efficient at putting it up, but overall I'm pretty damn happy. It took us over 2 hours to raise the tent when we arrived on Friday, but given the 45- 60+ kmph winds I'm pretty damn impressed we got it up at all. It was designed to look like a ship's sail converted into a tent, and it certainly acted like a sail! So we figure that since we got it up in that weather we can get it up in anything :p And it also didn't collapse and kill us all at any point during the weekend!

In other parts of the weekend, I was given command of a cannon which was really cool. Normally we have a 4-man crew for each gun, but this year we ran with 3 so we could field more artillery. I had Marcus and Di on my crew and we also represented the English camp in a speed shoot against the French on the Saturday afternoon. Sadly we lost due to two misfires and the French cheating by not cleaning the barrel between shots and not replacing the tools. Bah. But we got a shiny 2nd place medal which was cool, and things still went bang :D After the massive winds on Friday, the weekend itself was actually still and clear with a good amount of sunshine. It was cooooooooooooold at night, on Saturday night it got down to -8*C (17*F) thanks to the lack of cloud cover, and on Sunday morning there was an absolutely amazing frost. Every water bucket had iced over, left out drinks were frozen solid and the grass was all silver and crunchy. It was still cool during the day but much more pleasant than previous years, with a lovely lack of rain.

Uni yesterday was a bust with the lecturer forgetting to turn up to our class. We sat around for an hour reading textbooks for our own research before giving up and heading home. I went bed at 9pm and slept for 14h which was amaaaaazing, although it took me ages to actually 'wake up' today, which made the 3h of student presentations drag even more than it should have. My turn to present next week so I should really get on that...
