So, this past weekend myself and Brian went to
Crystal Mountain Resort. We put a $50 deposit down and my company pays for the room, all meals except for lunch on Saturday and then you can have your $50 back to do whatever you'd like with. It's so awesome. Last year Brian, myself and Mason went. We shared a house with a few of my co-workers. This year, Brian and I went alone. It was a TOTAL different experience. We stayed at
The Hamlet. It was a great room with a jacuzzi tub. We got there Friday night, played in the tub, went to bed and then got up at about 7 for breakfast. After the breakfast I went to the 'conference' (which is the reason the company pays for it)which lasted about 3 hours. After that I went back to the room to catch up with Bri. He went golfing with some of my co-workers and I went tubing down the
Betsie River. The tubing trip lasted about 3.5 hours (holy SHIT!) and it was a pretty rough ride! I'm a pretty experienced tub-er due to the fact that I lived on a river growing up, but this was pretty rough even for me. There were a ton of trees in the river and there were many twists and turns and shallow spots. Fun, though, because I was in good company. So, after the tubing we had just enough time to shower and head to dinner. Dinner was good..after dinner we went to the house that a few of my close co-workers were sharing. We played Catch Phrase and had a couple drinks. I'm now a huge fan of the:
SKIP & GO NAKED
1-1/2 oz. Gin
4 oz. Cold Beer
2 oz. Sour Mix
1 dash Grenadine
Mix ingredients in highball glass.
Stir well.
Only the gal that made them mixed it in a blender and made it all slushy. Holy CRAP it was good. So after a few..ok, A LOT, of those we went to the 'dance'. Now the dance is really just an excuse to drink free beer and wine and watch the other co-workers get all drunk and silly. Keep in mind that I was pregnant when I went last year, so no drinks were consumed then. We all went to the 'dance' and had a blast, then we went back to the same house and REALLY let go. I'm almost ashamed at how much I had to drink. My poor Bri drank way too many different kinds of drinks for someone that is usually a 2 beer and a shot kinda guy. He got sick :(. He felt so bad for me and was embarrased. Poor guy. I was pretty worried about him. He's so sweet, though. Eye heart him. Everyone was so sure that I would be the one getting all effed up and sick since I'm not a big drinker and since I really haven't had more than maybe a mixed drink or 2 since I had Lucas. I did have a pretty hearty buzz going, but as soon as my Bri got sick, I pretty much sobered up. I turned into Medical me pretty much immediately. He's trying to make it up to me for my birthday, though, by putting together a big party at some of the downtown bars. Such a good guy. So, anyway, we stayed out until about 4 am...went to bed and then had to get up quite early on Sunday. We went back to my co-workers house and hung out for a little bit, but Bri was still pretty sick. I drove most of the way to my moms house (she was watching the boys). We stopped at DQ and he was feeling a little better then. We hung out at my moms for awhile and then finally got home at about 9 pm Sunday. Whew. It's now Wednesday and I think that I'm still recovering.
I'm thinking that we'll go kid-free again next year. At first I felt kinda selfish for not taking them, but Bri and I travel with them all of the time and they've been to the beach and all sorts of places with us, so I'm not feeling so bad for taking one weekend and using it for some Bri and me time.
