Here Finally Wesley came in with me from the roof, the words before we'd fled the rain still ringing in my ears.
"Thank you for coming back Lilah. I can't promise you...anything."Since when had I ever asked him for more than he could offer? I'd known the score, even back then. No promises. Hell, we'd even made a bet over who'd be

Won’t let you go this time. Not without a fight.
We lay panting for a little while, trying to calm our clamoring heartbeats and then he flipped me over, dragging me to lie on top of him. I was still in a daze, body tingling from all the attention his mouth, hands and cock had given me. I sprawled over his body, the heat radiating from his damp skin was making me drowsy but in a good way, in a wonderful way. His hands were caressing my back, supple fingers still working their magic on me.
He bent down and kissed my forehead gently. I’d missed that. Missed the small gestures that meant so much, if you let them.
Welcome back, Lilah.
"Welcome back yourself, Wesley." I murmured, once I was calm enough to string some words together coherently. I lazily ran my own fingers down his side, wanting to re-explore the body I’d once known so well. “I have to say, being alive again does have its good points."
I lifted my head to look at him, propping my chin up on my other hand which was resting on his chest.
"And thank you. That's probably the closest I’m ever gonna get to those pearly white gates.” I commented with a satisfied smirk playing on my lips.

Scooting a bit up against the headboard, I glance down at her, the hand on her back now brushing through her hair. My mind is empty, there are no voices yelling at me. Accusing me, telling me I've failed them. Telling me that I'm a disappointment. That I should be dead. Lilah should be dead.
Half smirk still in place I look down at her as she starts to thank me. Her next words make me freeze however, smirk dying on my face. Pearly white gates? No she'll never get there will she? But then again neither will I, will I? Never good enough. We're both bound to Wolfram and Hart, mind, body and soul. We're both doomed. At least Fred didn't have to go through that, with her soul gone.
"It means something that you tried.
"I'm sorry," I mutter, looking at her with wide eyes.
"Why can't I stay?"
"Five by five, boss"
"One of you is going to betray me."
"What happened to you man?"
"You never had any use for me as a child and you can't bear the thought of me as an adult..."
"Shut up..." I whisper, bringing my hands up I press them against my ears while I squeeze my eyes shut. "Shut up!"
