I slowly got to my feet, feeling more focused than I had before. That little adventure with Wes had helped me more than he'd ever know. You'd think that the Senior Partners would have given me some kind of instruction booklet on how to use these powers that they'd given me. At the moment it was trial and error

When the chair spun around and I found myself facing Lindsey MacDonald, looking like the cat that ate the proverbial canary, safe to say I was a little shocked.
"Nice to see you again Lilah."
Attempting to recover my composure I merely nodded, croaking out a "Lindsey." in response. I tried not to wince and touch my throat again. I couldn't afford to show any more weakness. Not now. Lindsey knew me, probably more than anyone save Wesley. I would have to be careful around him, especially now that he'd obviously got the plum job he'd always aspired to.
"Eve, could you give us a few minutes? We have quite a bit to discuss, then you and I need to have a chat."
That at least perked me up. Eve had done some damage, hurt me in ways that weren't just physical. I wasn't about to forget that. Payback would be a bitch. But I didn't yet know how she related to Lindsey. If she was his new best buddy I'd have to rethink things.

"Didn't expect to see me in charge, did you?" I grinned. Stepped closer and reached my hand out, holding it a couple inches from her neck. "You weren't the only one brought back from the dead. But when I was brought back, the Partners and I had a little talk. I'm a whole new man now. How does it feel to be in the same room as a Senior Partner?"
Studied the bruises on her neck. "Sorry about your neck. Hellspawn can be rather agressive. Hold still." My hand started to glow and she gasped. I touched her throat and worked on healing it in the same way I'd patched up Wes' head wound. Channeled energy until the bruises faded. "Is that better?"

I sat down gingerly, my body protesting at the movement. Stupid lungs needing to breathe. Being alive sucked when you were in pain. My mind was still reeling, trying to process everything that had happened since I'd been let out of my cell.

"Not much. I'll be ok. Thanks."
Then Lindsey finally began to give me some answers to all the questions I had bubbling to the surface.
"Wes is broken. You're the only one who can fix him. Had a chat with him earlier. I'm going to bet that Eve didn't give you much information at all."
"No, I think she is of the school where you blindfold someone and hand them a sword and then shove them into a room full of other blindfolded people brandishing swords. I got zip from her before going in." I grimaced, remembering how helpless I'd felt when I'd seen Wesley like that.
"Part of the reason he's broken, other than the whole getting murdered thing, and who around here hasn't been murdered or died at least once?"
I felt myself grin at that, who indeed?
"Is because Fred died. Unfortunatley ( ... )

"He's not my boyfriend, Lindsey. He chose Fred over me, remember?" My voice was soft. "But Fred's not here anymore, is she?" I knew how both of them really felt about one another, I could feel it inside their voices and hearts when they spoke. Lilah and Wes were both broken, but given enough time, they could mend. "Just give it time, you both need to adjust. This is a fresh start."
I walked with her towards the door. "I don't know what the Partners have in store for Wes, but I know he's important, otherwise they wouldn't have woke you up. Lilah, you have to fix what's wrong with him. You're the only one who can ( ... )
