I slowly got to my feet, feeling more focused than I had before. That little adventure with Wes had helped me more than he'd ever know. You'd think that the Senior Partners would have given me some kind of instruction booklet on how to use these powers that they'd given me. At the moment it was trial and error.
Stood in the middle of the room and closed my eyes, checking the rest of the building. Someone was stealing boxes of copy machine paper on the fourth floor. Have to make an example of him, but not right now. Wheels were in motion now. More players were coming into this wacky game of life, and I had to be ready. This was my place, my firm, and I wasn't about to let anything screw that up.
They were coming up to see me. Lilah would get one hell of a shock to see who was in charge. We needed to have a little chat. Alone. Then Eve and I were going to have a discussion about how things were going to happen around here now. Things had changed when everything had been reset, and she hadn't seemed to grasp that yet. But she'd learn. Even if I had to hurt her to make her understand.
Walked over to my chair and turned it so I was facing away from the door. I knew it was a rather cheesey thing to do in a bad super villain kind of way, but surprises were always so much more fun. There was a knock at the door and I smiled as I heard it open. Slowly spun the chair around. "Nice to see you again Lilah." The look on her face was priceless. I smiled. "Eve, could you give us a few minutes? We have quite a bit to discuss, then you and I need to have a chat."
