w00t! diapers!

So, I finally forced myself to put prefolds/covers on Reagan. I've been putting it off because I could never figure out how to do it properly and Reagan has not yet been patient enough to wait while I figured it out.
Thanks to a talking George Bush doll that John bought at a gag-gift/toy-store sale a few years ago (push "Inspirational" or "Funny" and get some pretty good quotes, lol), I was able to entertain her long enough while I figured it out. I need some Snappis. I'll get those today, thanks to my funded PayPal. I managed well with the pins, though. I was just scared of her moving.
I've been doing pockets and disposables, and while I have a good amount of pockets, I really wanted to get into the habit of using the prefolds as well. Cheaper, and easier to mix up covers and stuff with.

ANYway, I'm proud of the results. I used a premium prefold with a doubler, along with a plain white cover, I think from Bumkins or Bummis or something like that. :P
Worked great. No leaking, she seemed comfortable, everything. She does walk a bit funny, but she'll get used to it. LOL. I did change her fairly soon after putting her in it, because she ate and then it was naptime (and I'm not yet brave enough to let her sleep in one - she is a HEAVY wetter when she sleeps), but she had already filled it up a decent amount and it held good.

Even though our finances are doing better, I still hate the hassle of buying disposables, and I HATE the waste they cause. I'm no enviromentalist, but I hate it anyway. Plus, I really want to 100% cloth-diaper this second baby, and I figure I can do my practicing on Reagan now to get in the groove. I don't want to have to re-learn it with the second, because I doubt I would stick to it.

I'm going to wait and get used to this a little longer before stocking up on more covers and pockets. I have plenty to work with for now, which is a good feeling (thanks to those who have helped out in that area, you know who you are!).
That also reminds me I still have diapers to send out to you, Denise. I think I'm going to have to give up and send them to the post office with John tomorrow. I'll let you know as soon as they ship! Forgive me!

I'm also going to take on "Mission: EAT MORE VEGGIES", for both Reagan and me. Even though I do add tiny amounts of veggies to any casserole I cook, I rarely have a "side dish" of anything other than green beans. Surprise, Reagan loves green beans but won't touch anything else. Just like her momma. Not good, right?
My problem is forcing myself to branch out and get creative. I really dislike vegetables. It's sad. The thing is, my mom LOVES them and has ALWAYS eaten tons of them and given us whatever she was cooking. She did everything right, and yet I hate them. So it's almost discouraging me from forcing down veggies in front of Reagan in hopes that she'll pick it up, lol, but that's just an excuse. I know tastes can be changed, and much of it is just in my head, but it's not going to be that easy to persist. I will, though.

I'm good about not giving her too much "junk food" (french fries, cookies, etc). Not that she never gets it, she had some fries last night along with a 4 pc. nugget from Chick Fil A, but you know. Not at home, really. I just get stuck in a rut of the same foods, and I know that variety is one of the keys to raising an adventurous eater (that, plus their own personality).
Lala. So anyway, I know that's random, but I'm going to start forcing myself to eat actual SALADS (real salads, not from Wendy's or something with iceberg lettuce) and brussel sprouts as a side instead of bread and rice. I know I CAN do this, it's just being consistent and persistent that is the main key here. I'm sure if I get better about offering her good vegetables over and over again, she'll at least eat SOME of it. She's pretty good about trying everything once. If she doesn't like it, she'll put it out of her mouth with a hilarious face. LOL.

I know I can, I know I can.
;P
