"You're not going in drag."
"And why's that?"
"You haven't got the legs for it."
"Oh." A slight pause, accompanied by a lifted eyebrow. "And you do, I suppose?"
"Of course. Already proved it."
The eyebrow goes up again.
"True, mate. Bright green sequined frock. I looked smashing in it."
"Ah, yes." A smirk creeps out, is ignored. "I remember that. Horrible film, but you did look rather fetching. Gay, weren't you?"
"The character was, yes." Oh, there's a touch of huffiness now.
"Right. Art imitating life." The smirk is back, and it's hard to ignore it this time. The attempt is made.
"Bugger off."
"That your final word on it, then?"
"You're not wearing the dress."
"Planning on wearing it yourself?"
"Not unless there's another foot of it hidden in there somewhere. Have you looked at it?"
"I picked it out, remember?"
"One thing to get your kit off on film." Mutterings, and a shake of a dark head, then steely blue eyes blink. "Quite another to be showing it off in public. You won't even need a stiff breeze to show how not Jewish you are."
"Jealous?"
"Of?"
"That my bits are intact."
"What? Oh, for heaven's sake."
