Summary: Dean’s first hunt doesn’t go so well.

The first solo hunt that John trusts Dean on fails. It should have been a simple salt and burn of a ghost’s corpse but it ends in two more victims before John intercedes. For months afterwards, Dean cannot get the blank stares of the two teenage victims out of his head. He will wake up in the middle of the night with his heart pounding so hard and loud that he’s certain that it’ll wake up Sammy. He knows that it was his own arrogance that caused two more innocent teenagers to die and somehow Dean knows that no matter how many people he does end up saving in the future, the first two that he failed to save will always haunt him.
