In the dark of the night
Those small hours
Uncertain and anxious
He stands in the shadows under a tree staring up at her darkened bedroom window like some modern-day Romeo and he knows that despite their connection, only tragedy can befall them. No matter what he secretly longs for, Angel knows that he belongs to Buffy. He is fettered by invisible chains to the Slayer. His redemption lies with Buffy, even if Willow holds her soul in her small and delicate hands. Angel sighs and vows that this will be the last time that he will stand under her window waiting for a glimpse of her. He knows that this has to end before it becomes an obsession and that there is no point in dreaming in what might have been no matter how he feels.
