It’s not until after they’ve taken their final bows on the stage and she’s backstage surrounded by other dancers that Jody realizes that for the first time since she came to New York to realize her dreams to become a ballerina with the American Ballet Company that she’s actually had fun dancing. For once she wasn’t worried about her bad feet, her poor turn out or the fact that almost everyone who mattered thought that she was some sort of disaster.

Dancing with Charlie and Cooper was liberating and for once she hadn’t felt the intense pressure to perform flawlessly, instead she had allowed herself to feel the dance. And she had followed Charlie’s advice: she had danced what she felt. For once nothing else mattered, not her feet, her technique or even her future.

While she was on the stage with Cooper and Charlie, Jody found herself lost in the story that Cooper had wanted to tell with his ballet. The story that she felt had become more than about the three of them than it was ever about Kathleen, Jonathon and Cooper. And while she danced on stage, she felt the need to show both Cooper and Charlie that she was more than just some toy ballerina to be fought over.

For once since she had come to New York, she had truly danced how she felt and no matter the outcome of the workshop, Jody felt like she had finally succeeded in doing what she had set out to do.
