Summary: Sam has no actual memory of his mother’s death.
Word Count: 180
Sam has no actual memory of his mother’s death. All he has is the stories that his father and brother told him. None of those stories contain much detail other than his mother was murdered by a demon who pinned her to the ceiling of his nursery and burned her. The descriptions that his father and his brother give him of the fire that destroyed their normal lives for ever are bare of any real description yet he has nightmares of that night. The night that marked him and whenever he awakes from those nightmares, he swears that he can taste smoke in his mouth just as he feels the heat on his skin.
Sam never tells his father or his brother of these dreams, thinking that he does not want to worry them, but he’s also afraid that the night that destroyed his family did more than just kill his mother. So he runs the first chance he gets and turns his back on his family in order to protect them, never knowing that he’s just endangering someone else.
