mirrors.

No vice, no virtue.
No war, no peace.
No crime, no justice.
No sacrifice, no joy.

No love, no hurt.
No meaning, no hardship.
No gifts, no responsibility.
No light, no darkness.

It's funny isn't it?
How one doesn't come without the other.
How we only appreciate the absence of one with the presence of another, vice versa.

Sometimes the mirrors tell us so much about the opposite -  the unseen defects, the glossed over details, the perfect parts. Maybe it's by looking at through to the other side that we learn more about this side. Our side. Our own person. It's true, isn't it? That it's hard to notice the things wrong about ourselves until we look into the mirror and see and realise. Both the good side and the bad side, the things people notice but we ourselves don't.

I'm not just talking about the superficial reflections of the mirror. There are legends of magical mirrors that are said to be able to see a person's soul - naked, vulnerable, open yet pure and whole and true. Someone once told me the reason why we hate or can't stand certain people is because we see ourselves in them, that they reflect the bad side of our characters we try so hard to hide. And the reason why we admire others is because they possess the same gifts we have and amplify them, showing us our own hidden potential.

Are we mirrors of each other?
Learning, growing, and even knowing more about ourselves through people perhaps.

No you, no us, no I?
Food for thought.
