There's a story that I worked on for a long time during the summer that is finally published. Yes, notice I did not use a state-of-being verb in there. It's not going to be published, it already has been - TODAY! Hooray!
I got a job as a correspondent for the Clay Today what already seems like a loooong time ago, but because of some confusion between the editor and I and other circumstances, I didn't get my story published until today. I filled out my paperwork for the freelancing position this morning, but I still have to mail it off. I also have to negotiate how much money I am going to make per story. I know it won't be much, but I don't want to get ripped off. I don't want to seem too demanding either. I guess I'll talk to one of my Journalism professors about it.
Anyway, you should go read it. It's on the newspaper's website, although, the hard copy is only 50 cents.
The Clay Today website is
www.claytoday.biz. Look under "Other Headlines" and click the story about Hearts, Hands, and Hooves. I would just give you the link directly for my story, but I think seeing my lead on the front page of their website is more impactful. (It may look effortless, but writing a good lead is difficult and takes lots of practice. Thanks Professor Gibbons, you taught me well. And thank you Dennis for always helping me edit my articles.)
