While Alex was at Ladybirds I had a sorting and fixing clothes day. I got my clothes sorted for 70s weekend, punked up my T shirt and got through the ironing mountain. Not bad! I managed to get my hair dyed, so that was good. Alex watched me "paint" my hair with fascination!
On Thursday Emi was supposed to be coming over with Ru and Pixie, but she had to cancel. Alex and I tried playing with vinegar ice cubes and bicarbonate of soda, but the ice cubes were so slow to melt, it turned out vinegar in a syringe was more fun! We also got out in the garden with his water toy, so he had quite a good day. A walk out to feed the ducks and pick elder flowers helped too.
On Friday Simon worked from home in the morning, so I got lots of packing and sorting done, then he went to fetch the van. Alex was happy to go in the van to the brewery and watch the forklift load our beer barrels in, then we drove to Levisham to unload and sort out in the rain, with a child who fell asleep and woke up grumpy. Always fun.
Saturday morning I got dressed in my punk outfit. Alex was fascinated by the fishnet tights, and the safety pins. Lib put my hair up while Alex watched it all with interest, then the zip on my dress split, so I was lying on the bed trying to get out of it with Alex rubbing my thighs due to the feel of my tights. Very odd! Doreen turned up with kilt pins, so I removed the safety pins and distributed those round my face instead, just to freak people out. I then found that paraboots don't like being left in the attic for 6+ years, they felt like they were sticking to the floor, then as I was pushing the platform trolley the soles disintegrate. Luckily my work boots are DMs, so I just swapped. Janet and Eric arrived at 10:45, took Alex off to the sea side and I got on with the setting up. The Glamned were brilliant, technically good, excellent singers, great musicians and brilliant showmen! The poor ABBA tribute band were a bit lost following them. Getting totally stuck in traffic and arriving 2 hours late didn't help their cause. Poor Elaine and Patience were selling platform tickets and getting a lot of shit from some people who didn't want to pay, so not everyone had a good day. They clearly hadn't put any money in the car park box either, tight gits.
On Sunday I went with flower power, much easier, even if the new flared jeans did leave my legs blue! I had Alex in tow, but there were lots of kids in the paddock and the band was even better, so we stayed in the paddock with the occasional foray out for change. Simon got dragged up on stage and put in an Alex Cooper mask, very funny!
Today we've been out to Monday Monkeys, then to Oaken Grove, where no-one turned up, and back home to find a delivery of Lego on the doorstep from Stephen. I've been building dinosaurs, great fun!
