Thursday morning was nice, even if there were only 4 of us there. Alex and Freddie had a wonderful time together and it was lovely to see them playing so nicely.
On Friday morning Janet got there in time to walk to Kindermusic with us, and we left Simon and Eric gardening, as Simon was ‘working from home’. We got back, fed Alex and put him to bed, and had lunch that mainly consisted of cheap short dates stuff from Tesco’s Metro. I think I paid full price for 1 item in the whole meal, and the final bill was £6.66. Nice!
I then went to pack with Alex round my feet as the in-laws didn’t seem to want to take him off, only to discover Simon had planned to make the 15:20 train, it was 14:00 and I wasn’t ready. Always such fun when your partner checks his plans will work! We argued all the way to the Station too as I had told him the night before my parents were prepared to look after Alex so we could all go out, but in Pickering, so we’d have to eat out in town. Simon apparently hadn’t heard this, had booked the pub in Levisham and thought it was totally unfair that my parents wouldn’t drive down there to do us a favour!
We did make it in time, Simon and Eric took the train and Janet and I unpacked, changed Alex and fed him. We then caught the train to Newtondale Halt with them and walked back. It was a lovely walk, but all the arguing had left me with a stinking headache, and the heat had not helped! Still, watching Simon run round with Alex in the new sling giggling his head off was cute. When we got back I fed Alex his dinner a bit late and was getting ready to go to Pickering when Simon announced I had to drive him alone as he had work to do. As I was nearly blind and feeling sick with my headache I was not amused. By the time I’d got to Pickering and sorted out Alex I was ready to commit murder, and Alex of course picked up on this and wouldn’t settle. Eventually I got him down and got back in time for dinner, the evening wasn’t too bad, and I made Simon drive back to Pickering to collect Alex with me.
Yesterday Janet spent most of the morning out walking with Alex. She seems unable to grasp the principle that he doesn’t sleep well in his pram, so I had wanted him back for a proper nap! Its a whole damn family that doesn’t listen to me and can’t follow simple instructions, joy! Luckily he went down after his lunch. She and I went then over to Thornton le Dale for a little stroll and afternoon tea, which was nice. I haven’t been for ages, not that its changed much since I lived there. We came back and had a nice time with Alex in the back garden, watching him play with twigs and explore. Then it was bath time and bed for Alex, the 7 of us ate the Coc au vin I made and a lovely spiced apricot and chocolate cake. The inlaws left fairly early and I went to bed as I was knackered.
Today Janet and I have been over to some of her friends near Scarborough. Alex had a wonderful time chasing Rod around arm chairs and through the house and was very tired when we left. We headed over to the honey farm to feed him and get lunch, buy some honey and look at the farm animals, then we came back to the station. Alex was asleep as soon as the car started moving!
This afternoon we’ve been playing in the garden again and Mum, Sarah, Janet and I took Alex and the dogs down the field to play in the beck. Alex has actually been really good considering the amount of sleep he has had, but hes been too wound up and excited to go back down!
We are now at Mum and Dads, as Simon has gone down to Norfolk for 2 days and I didn’t fancy the long drive with Alex just too spent 2 days in Weybourne Signal box! The current debate is when and how I will get home, but it will work itself out. The other problem is I have bad Urticaria and no clue if its due to getting so stressed and wound up on Friday or if I’m coming down with a virus. Hopefully it’ll come to nothing.

arguments, family, in-laws, day trips, alex
