I'm going to start off this horribly disjointed post with a really short movie review.
I saw RAGE because Skuld mentioned it and it involves Judi Dench who I adore and also Jude Law in drag which is not something I would pass up seeing. I actually rather liked this movie up until the end. I think the last little bit which was mostly, here is our point let us hit you with it repeatedly, was extremely heavy handed and more than a bit pretentious. I was also reminded somewhat of people I met when I was still in school for fashion. A reminder of why I am no longer in school for fashion. I would end up killing someone before the year was out and those of you who know my real temperament realize how strange that would be. That aside, while Skuld may have listed Jude Law in a dress as sort of want, I'm going to have to go with do want. That man looks excessively nice in makeup. And speaking of actors/actresses in that movie Lily Cole is still exceedingly adorable. Which I feel bad about considering she's two years younger than me and kind of looks like she's 15. I find this terribly unfair.
Next up is a ramble about cupcakes:
Cupcake obsession is a strange thing. I'm going to start this out by saying something that will likely get a lot of people to try and stone me. I'm not a very big fan of cake. It's generally too sweet and kind of gross. By that same token I kind of like those miniature cupcakes that look like they've been scaled down for dolls. It's still a scary amount of sweet, but it's so small that I can eat one and not feel ill.
I remember when I was younger I used to love the cheap frosting on the cakes they sell over at Ralphs. I also really liked the frosting my grandmother made with butter and confectioners sugar. Over time it went away. I think the only reason why I crave sugar now on occasions is out of habit.
This is why I don't like subscribing to the all time favorite food idea. There is nothing that I would eat to the exclusion of all else. And there is no food that always trumps others. I really like raw yellowtail, but I'm sure that there are times when I am not in the mood for it and a salad would be a better choice, or perhaps eel or some other food I like. Though I will admit there are things that I will generally eat if given the opportunity over other things, such as pickled cabbage, raw yellowtail, salmon, and the ever popular eel egg bowl down at the one place in Mitsuwa.
Why yes, I am copy and pasting out of text documents on my desktop again, how ever could you tell?
That being said, I think Chobi has made it one of her goals in life to make me want to spend money. She linked me to this the other day:
http://holmcomm.com/sterling_silver_miskatonic_university_class_ring.html?category_id=47I have got to get one of these. It could match my MU T-shirt. I've never had the urge to own an actual class ring and I doubt I ever will, considering how expensive they are and how ugly they tend to look. But this? This is a thing of beauty and taste.
Speaking of Miskatonic, I don't think I've ever shared here the story from awhile back of when I was wearing my MU shirt up in the bay area and someone thought it was a real university. It took me several lines into the conversation before I realized that they honestly thought I was visiting from out of state and that I was wearing a shirt from my school. I don't think they looked closely enough at the crest, since it contains a skull, a book, and a pointy looking rose. Adding a class ring would only make the whole thing worse/better.
Oh and for some reason unknown to me I keep thinking that Jammy Dodgers are called Jammy Devils. I can't figure out why though... Maybe it's because they're filled with jam and evil. *shrugs*
