for those of you who know me  IRL you know that even though this icon is seriously outdated, my hair hasn't changed much.
it has been a sort of medium brown to coppery brown, long more or less straight mass of hair, that i do NOT  "style" or layer or die or do anything besides braid, put in pony tails, or pin up with my Mei Fa Hairstyx (or the ( Read more... )

Aww...I know EXACTLY how you feel! I cut mine off periodically, and I'm ALWAYS sorry. I feel like Samson, I'm just not me without my hair!

Just breathe deeply and remember my mother's mantra

It's only hair. It will grow back. It's only hair. It will grow back.

yeah... i gues if i did cut mine more often it wouldnt feel as "weird" to me, but... yeah "not like me" about sums it up.

"its only hair (only? where did she get ONLY?! oh... yeah. not a limb or a finger or an eye. ok......)its only hair, it will grow back.... its only hair.. it will grow back.."

if you decide to cut it again? consider donating it. even if its too short to make wigs you can donate it and they sell it for cosmetic research and the money goes towards making the wigs. i like "wigs for kids" myself, because they were VERY clear on their webpage, but there are many groups out there, not just those two.

The "only" was to soothe herself when she had done something disastrous to her hair. Of course, when I was little, wigs were very much in style and Mom had several. I'm almost glad, for the sake of her vanity, that she didn't have to put up with chemotherapy making her lose her hair.

Unfortunately, the donation places probably would not want my hair, because it has so much gray in it. And I have decided to renew my experiment of seeing exactly how long it will grow. I could sit on it, before I cut it to about mid-shoulders last fall, and it is almost back down to my waist now.

have you seen "the long hair club" pages? i think its www.longhairclub.com? but i am not sure...

some places will take greying hair, some wont. if that was something you wanted to do, you could check. i don't think i ever want it this short again. i can barely put it up and it wont behave..

Yes, I've seen those pages.

Meh. I love the IDEA of donating hair. Not so much the idea of cutting off MY hair though.

Mine's not in such great shape right now. Need to start eating better, and taking some serious B-vitamins. My hair's nowhere near as thick as it used to be, and it used to grow faster. I don't mind the gray, but I want the thickness back.

yeah...its driving me buggy having short hair (and i dont care what people say, this is short)

B vitamins seem to be the answer to a multitude of problems... i started taking massive doses when i found out that a b vitamin energy drink cured my migraines better than the prescription meds..... and then found out that being on 300% usrda meant my reynauds symptoms went down a LOT.

i am beginning to think that there are very few problems that are not at least *helped* by more b vitamins and flax seed oil.
