Today is Doggerel day

Every dog must have his day,
not  sun nor rain shall interfere
and so it seems that this meme may
be unleashed for all to hear

So prose must yield its normal sway
for horrid puns and cants appear
and dogs may howl and dogs may bay
'round prose and syntax's mournful bier

oh mourn ye all, let none be gay
whilst hopeful poets make it clear
that long the minutes of the day
are felt  when doggerel is here
