As i said to a friend, "life could be better, but I got here, so its all good..." Part one of the ongoing story of this years Pennsic.
I may never live this down, of course... On Monday of pre war week I set up the new (to me) pavilion, with help, and drove into Butler to get my stuff out of the storage. I was thinking about how overheated I already was, I figured the drive in an air conditioned car would be good for me. What I forgot was that the locker is out in the baking sun, and I had no help to load the van up. After i finished there I drove straight to the Butler Walmart to buy water and food.... I made it almost to the parking lot before i started throwing up. The short form is that I had, once again, dehydrated and gotten heat exhaustion, and this time was off Pennsic ground so had to go to Butler hospital, where i stayed _all day_ while they lectured me about my potassium levels. They infiltrated the line, too.. so I had this elbow to wrist bruise.
This does mean that every _ single _ person that found out about this, and that I had ever lectured about drinking enough water (that is most folks, by the way), had to come over and lecture me back..... When the assistant to the merchant Diva comes over and greets you with, "hello Miss 'takes care of everyone but herself'" you know your war is in for a rough start...... >sigh< I know, I know... I deserved it.
I had to take it very easy for the rest of the week as I recovered.
Now as most of you know, I got in at the last minute, so I wasnt in the merchants guide book. This is bad for busienss. I also used to be in the Bazaar, which no longer exsists, so like most of the merchants we had new spaces..... Now for those of you who dont do retail, this is also bad... people tend to expect you in the same place every year. (Not that nayone at Pennsic could do anything about Grimms tents going out of business) AND since this was a last minute placement, I naturally got into a far corner where people dont really see you...
(No, this is not the merchant people's fault.. its MY fault... I am the one who registered late, remember?)
I chewed my knuckles the first week until people started finding me. Overall.. sales were down, but not by as much as I feared.
