Well, i am home from Pennsic (
www.pennsicwar.org ) and safe and sound ish.
I actually got home on saturday night, recovered on sunday and finally logged in today. (Do you have any idea how much spam email a person gets every day? I do , now..) Despite my husbands best efforts, a lot needed doing as soon as I got home. Cats need to go to the vet, items need to be repaired, boxes need to be unloaded, etc.
One problem I didnt need was UPS. I had shipped some boxes out to the war by UPS. They added 60 dollars to my bill on the grounds that the boxes were "not in corrugated cardboard containers". They knew that when the arranged pickup, I had told them they were all plastic trunks. Identical "meets postal shipping regulations" plastic trunks, and no one said anything about any extra charges.
Problem.. those same boxes also need to be shipped HOME.....so since UPS has made the shipping charges now up over 300 dollars each way (which is NOT the price i was quoted) i was confronted with how to get the boxes home. I have decided to go with Fed Ex, which requires me to ship the *labels* for the boxes out to the storage locker and have the _very_ nice storage locker folks apply the new shipping labels to the boxes so i dont have to drive out and get them myself. If anyone needs a locker out in the Butler PA area, I recommend AAAA mini storage.
I took tons of photos, and will post a detailed account of pennsic later.
Blessings and safe travels to all.
