buried in that article about how the "former" Monsanto exec is leading raids on Amish raw milk producers... is the news that the FDA has finalized the ruling on Neotame.
Neotame is a close cousin to Aspartame.. and the new rules mean this:
it doesn't need the phenylkenoturics label so many of us rely on to warn us of Aspartame
it can be put into foods labeled "organic"
it can be fed to cattle, including "organic" beef.
it MAY be the case that it can be put in foods in small doses without ANY LABEL (very small doses, indeed.. probably labeled as "flavoring" or some such) but i am unclear on this
i have been warning people about neotame for years... well its out there.
for those of us who react to Aspartame... redouble your label reading.
and remember, they dont have to change the box, or the appearance, to change the ingredients!
