going back to the Richmond VA vet..

ok, sorry to say i have a strong DIS recommendation for a local vet, Girard animal Hospital. They quoted us a price of 265 for a tooth extraction in a 110 pound dog, plus a 38 dollar vet visit. "total? and thats everything?" "it could be 20-50 dollars more depending on her exact weight and the tooth..."

so, at 300 dollars (about) that made it better than the quoted price for Helping Hands Vet in Richmond VA (155 plus 43 for blood work) when you add in a 12 hour or more round trip and gas/tolls/etc. right?

so we went in, paid them their 38 dollar vet fee.. and got scheduled for extraction.. and told "250.00 deposit up front" and we are all like "ok can we get the actual written total? so we know what to bring?"
"sure"
written total estimate? AT LEAST $650 dollars, plus that could go UP depending on various stuff...

so they lied to get us in. they got their 38 dollars and they will never see another dime. I totally get that sometimes when you see a tooth the estimate will change a little.. but not MORE THAN DOUBLE. and apparently? 265 is the base price for a extraction NOT COUNTING ANESTHETIC... which they would have known when we called... and they out and out told us that "it could go way up from this estimate"

by the way, at that price? its probably about the same cost as quoted by my WONDERFUL and beloved Vet Stephen Meister at Society Hill Vet Hospital, where we would be going if we had that amount of money!!!!!! (we love our vet, great vet, we just dont have the money to pay them for an extraction).

so, back on the phone to Helping Hands, and we have an appt in Richmond VA the Nov 18th... the day before we need to be in Mannassas VA for an Sca event called Stierbach Holiday Fair so we will need crash space and or hotel space for TWO nights.. thursday night and friday night....

and i have to miss PHILCON 2011

stierbach hoiday fair, sca event, richmond, vet bills, sca, bad service, veterinarians, good service
