WW uses a point system where your daily allotted points are calculated by using your weight, age, sex and general activity level. As you lose weight, your allotted points decrease (about 1 point every 10 pounds), because your energy needs decrease ( ... )

Yes, this - the recipe builder is my life-saver. I can adjust my recipes to my needs, and still figure out the points value.

There are all sorts of points calculators in the online tools. There's the calculator for food, the calculator to determine your allottment of points, and the calculator for your activity (you can offset some points with activity).

It's incredibly useful.

It is very easy to figure out points on home cooked meals. You just add up the points on the ingredients for whatever you happen to use. WW is perfect for when you have food allergies because there is no forbidden foods and no foods that you have to eat. You do what you can. I may even have an extra set of first week stuff if you want to try it on your own. Kat and I both joined and stayed for a few weeks this fall, until money became too big a concern for both of us to stay doing it.

for the record, yes the online system does - you can type in your recipe and it calculates your points.
