not flocked, but please let me know before you spread it around.
so there is this "inspiration project" that we do in Art History. i had the same teacher for art history 1 and my project was jewelry based on some of the works we studied, and etc..
specifically an octopus pendant (in abalone and glass beads and silver) and a horse outline in silver with a beaded pearl mane.
in art history 2 we are working on "mannerist to modern" and we just covered the impressionists and cubists and worked our way into Duchamp.... by way of the first collage artists. we covered the reactions to the city and war, the artists who depicted primitivism and the Dada ists...
which suddenly hit me with my idea.
i do mean HIT, it was like being bashed upside the head.
i am going to do a "found object" collage.
It already has a title:"building the life i want from the life i have"
i am going to use the trash and "city findings" of my environment to make a collage art picture of a non city scene....
in the interest of sanity i am not picking up the innumerable used needles in my neighborhood, but will use hubby's nice clean insulin needles, after snapping the needle part off or otherwise gluing them into safety. they look the same. or they will once i "dirty" his up with paint.
i have a great idea of the scene i want, too.... in fact it hit me SO hard that i may try to get this into a gallery showing of some sort
all i need to do is figure out the backing material. anyone here worked with Masonite board????
i am also considering forming a new student group
i have to talk to the student life adviser to see if its possible....
you see, there isn't a "peer support group" for students with disabilities.
i know i am not the only one who could use it.
we of COURSE have a disabilities co-coordinator, i don't mean anything like that. i mean student to student being able to say "this worked for me" or "with your problem, this teacher would be better... he works that way" and also just being able to be around someone who understands.
with dyscalculia sufferers the "you mean its not just ME???!!!" factor is pretty high for instance... same with social anxiety and some of the less visible physical ailments.... it can be hard to find "other folks who get it"
Incidentally, speaking to that. sort of. i found a good book
"how to be a straight A student" by Cal newton? (never trust my spelling)
short bits of advice, ranging from "Duh" to "really? i never thought of that?"
like doing intensive work studying the syllabus the first week, and dropping a class almost every semester to be sure that all your classes work together, your teachers suit your style, etc.
he wrote a series, including how to be an incredible high school student who colleges try to recruit.
