lets see. i should be doing jewelry right now.. but my fingers hurt and my eyes are being cranky, so i will sit here and play on the computer for a few minutes.
one of the five nobel prize winners (agriculture) in the usa whose name i forget and cant spell right now, who functionally invented the hybrid wheat we grow today... died at age 95. i have mixed feelings about his work. he did a fantastic job of raising the per acre production of many plants, by hybridizing various strains of wheat.... and other plants.... and he was responsible for a lot of good... but his wheat and other advances lead pretty much directly to the whole monoculture, factory farming thing.
also he was involved with the genetic modification of crops, which while it CAN be a good thing, is all to often handled with the attitude of "we know better than you, so shut up" by big companies like Monsanto.
dunno.
anyway, by all accounts he was a bright fellow who advanced his field.
jewelry notes:
the mixed triple strand of blue glass, white pearls, and mixed dark pearls, iolite and lapis came out well.
the asymetrical pink necklace with the pink rose is working out nicely.. albeit very pink. i may do another one thats mostly green.
need to work on more plain boring single strands.. dont wannna
My credit report is *suddenly* showing late payments that occured? in 2003??? wtf? as in, these were given as reasons why my credit card rate went up.
