the weekend, henna, Orchids and earthworms

its been a strange weekend here ... which  come to think of it almost makes it a "normal" weekend here...

so i merchanted at Kingdom Arts and Sciences in Atlantia Saturday (specifically in Bright Hills. that is, Maryland sort of near Baltimore) and sales were ok.. could have been better.. but there was a Lady right across from my table doing Henna.... now you all know i am a sucker for good Henna, right?

so when she said she was willing to trade beads for Henna. i went "twist my arm.." and had her do a henna design on my right hand, which is hard for me to do myself being right handed...
i hadn't realized how spoiled i am by Lauren over at Henna Dancer.  While this fine woman did indeed do good henna, no complaints!  her line thickness was more suited for tribal styles and broader lines than i am used to on my hand.. you see, Henna Dancer . at least the designs i choose, does very fine line lace like designs.. so to my eye my right hand looks "clunky" by comparison... i will probably have to see if i can get Lauren to do it at some point..
in the meantime i have been re tracing her design on my left hand when it starts fading.... with the henna tube thingy she sold me.. works great!

so.... today was the last day of the Philadelphia Flower Show. which  i try to go to every year.  Wayne  and i are members of the phila horticultural society, so we get two tickets with our membership....
i really think that it used to be much more of an EVENT when it was at the old convention center.  It seems to me that it has fewer exhibits since it moved to the new convention center.  Anyway, we went. the theme this year was Italy... they had some gorgeous statuary... and some scenery that really made it look like you were walking in Italy.. which is the point i suppose.

and how does this get to earthworms, you ask?

well the flower show has a merchants section. (although to be fair i might as well say the merchants have a flower show)....and in this section there was a booth selling worm composing bins. Its basically the same as "the worm Factory" listed at the very bottom of the page HERE....

so i will now be able to fast compost my kitchen scraps, junk mail, dog fur, etc into fine wonderful worm poo.... which is what i have been buying for my orchids and houseplants anyway....

i may not be able to raise bees in my backyard... i cant have my own sheep... and we have agreed that raising my own chickens is not a good idea.. but i iz gonna be a worm farmer!

actually. i have used worm poo "tea" on my plants for years. great stuff!  so it actually is going to save me money over the long haul.. as well as being a very green recycling thing to do...

oh, yeah. got an orchid.
had to get an orchid
cant GO to a plant show without buying an orchid....

did i mention that the  South Eastern Pennsylvania Orchid Society (SEPOS) to which i belong is hosting a giant Orchid Show  and Sale at Longwood Gardens? in about two weeks? and there will be vendors from all over the planet?
right. heaven knows that i had to buy an orchid at this show....

oh yes, and my dragon scroll is HERE... go click on the babies if you can

orchids, henna, sca, orchid show, flower show, earthworms, dragon eggs, bright hills
