so, about my icon....

a lot of people dont know it, but the photo this Icon was cut from is now.....15 years old.

it was taken at LBIcon, a very small relaxacon on Long Beach Island (New Jersey) put on by :
myself, whouseknecht , witchwestphalia ,  regalpewter ,  and a few others who do not have Live Journal accounts.

Our  (Fan) Guest of Honor was  nancylebov  , and our artist guest of honor was TJ Glenn (he drew the art work for the cover of our program book)  which makes it all sound really nifty for what basically amounted to a bunch of us splitting the rent on a late season beach house and providing breakfast....
but we had programs
and...
we had a convention dinner at a country club.  everyone dress up please! we had mundane dress up, full kilts, and more.. and the dress i was supposed to wear... didnt fit. which i found out the day of the dinner.  so i grabbed some loose fabric and wrapped artistically, got out my dangliest earrings and my heaviest make up, and went to the formal dinner in a floor length wrapped peace of fabric.
i got complimented several times on my dress, asked where i got it, etc.
the lady standing next to me (whose shoulder you can just see in the icon) was the catering liason lady. who refused to believe that this was just a wrapped fabric until i went into the bathroom and unwrapped it...
it probably looked better on me than the dress i had planned to wear.

so the Icon is from 1993.  I havent changed that much except that i dont wear that much make up in normal daily events.  My hair is about the same, the only thing that keeps changing is my weight.. and i am now back down to .. well lets just say "bigger than that" and let it go.. but i must look fairly similar since LJ folks who have never seen me except for my Icon can recognize me at meet ups.. and people who know me in real life have spotted my posts and gone "i thought i knew that face!"

you see, i hate photos.
until or unless i get back down to that weight i have a bit of pudge under my jawline that shows up a LOT more in photos than in person,  and i dont think that is how my face looks....so i always hate the way i look in photos.. that is one of the few photos that look ok, to me anyway.
