it's been a long ass time since the last update. i've wanted to update sooner, but it's been difficult cause china still sucks ass. woo.

Hmm...so this weekend was good. i went to hanzhou with Asuka, Nic, and Jenna. Spent saturday at the west lake. it was really pretty there, but still very furstratingly chinese. it was so very good to travel with my friends. usually when i'm just with asuka, it's easier to let the quirks of travel get to me. the day was ended nicely drinking the shittiest bottle of wine on the waters edge while being divebombed by rabid bats.
sunday we spent about 4 hours traveling to the bamboo forest by AnJi. It was beautiful. It is the same forest that they filmed the fight scenes in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon...so while we were on the Bus, i scribbled down a few shot ideas for a short movie of sorts. who else can say that they stared in a movie in a bamboo forest? haha. we shot it in about 25 min on nic's Canon 30D Digital SLR....at 5 frames a second. So it's kind of like a stop motion movie. Awesome, i know. so, there's a lot of editing to do, but here's a link anyway. we hope to add chinese dubbing and text as well as a soundtrack. nothing fancy, just good enough to make it enjoyable.

we also were put in harneses and zipped on a wire across 2 peaks in the bamboo forest by some crazy chinese guys for $2.40 each. only lasted like...20 seconds each way. the end came abruptly: this is how they got you to stop: a big blue padded wall...that's not really that padded.
here are the final animations that i've been working on for the wynn. this has been a very very long hard tedious project. it's kinda comlicated, but, i did about 10 different ideas and storyboarded a few others. lots of actual "design" work i guess. i dunno, it's no character animation. it is what it is. dont show anyone these btw. they wanted simple clean, high contrast designs...so, this is what i did.

that's about it. i need to get tickets to beijing for the weekend, as well as tickets to Thailand for october.
i'm going to be practicing twice a week with a band to perform hopefully in December. :) i'm not getting my hopes up, but it'll be hella cool if everything turns out ok!
