So as we all know I have this thing for connecting bands by influences and things of that nature. Well when the Persistent Vision demos got pass around at one point someone likened our sound to that of Mission Of Burma. I always thought it would be cool to sound like Burma, but at the time we were totally going in a different, less experimental connection. At least I thought. Until I made the connection. There is a Sonic Youth song called "The World Looks Red". If you can find it, listen to it. It sounds very reminiscent of Mission of Burma from the early 80s. SY was "no wave"; Burma was "Art Punk". Same difference. I saw Sonic Youth play this song literally about the same time I started writing the songs that have mostly made up our material at this point. Even thought I'm trying not to exercise my inner Thurston Moore. It doesnt sound like that. But now I understand the connection. Without knowing I tried to sound like Thurston but ended up sounding like Roger Miller instead. Cool.
