I am not a huge telly person, but I am really excited about this new mini-series, well new to the UK, I think it aired on Sci-Fi in December in the states, it is called 'The Lost Room'. I absolutly love it, it is fresh and creative. I am sure somewhere in history something might have been done of a similar ilk, but nothing that I have ever watched.
The basic premis is that there is a 'key' that opens a mysterious room. You put it into any keyhole of any door anywhere and this room/portal appears. When you go in the room, if you have the key, you can open the door and it will lead you anywhere you ask it to. The problem is, if you are in the room without the key and the door closes, you or things get lost. There are other ordinary objects that originated in the room, but have foudn their way into our reality, our world. These ordinary objects have extrsordinary powers. A nail file that makes people fall asleep, a pen that burns people from the inside out, etc.
I have only seen the first part so far, but I am really enjoying it. Did anyone else see it? Don't give anything away if you have seen the whole thing, thanks.
The main star is Peter Krause (previously seen in 6ft Under), but there are other's like Jullianna Margilies (ER) etc. The basic premis can be read in more detail here:
