Mac Starflash collection was released afew weeks ago here in Singapore. The texture was fantastic and although i wasn't THAT crazy over the colors whn i saw it online at first, i totally fell in love with it after i tried it at the stores. =))
(left eye pencils: Orpheus, Mystery,
Right eye pencils: Raven, Feline,
Eyeshadows: (Top) Bold&Brazen, Go, Grand Entrance
(middle) Smoke&Daimonds, Mink&Sable, Talent Pool
(bottom) Top Hat, Lotusland, Sunset B.)
The eye pencils are like my first one (or first four), and i honestly suck at using them. i've been poking my eye out every day ever since i got them. but surprisingly, Raven looks really pretty with almost all colors of make up. Its far more red then i had expected at first but i'm glad i got it. Orpheus of cos, is the best of all. It's a brownish-gold that i often use with pinks and browns to much sucess according to my friends. All 3 of us, tocks val and i, got feline, i haven tried it yet, but tocks commented that it smugges very easily and seeing it's black black, it's bloody obvious too. The Mac Makeup artise suggested using some eyeshadow over it too if it smuggest even after using urban decay primer potion. Not sure if it works though. But everyone should just get Feline to keep. It's like one of the only, if not only Black Black eye pencil there is out there and as it smug like hell, it's really good if you are going for the smoky look.
I was quite unsure about Sunset B. at first seeing it's so... pink. Pink and Purples make my eyes look like its swollen and puffy. However, tocks came over that day to my place and she made me try it with Swish and Smoke&Diamonds and to my great delight, it turn out GREAT! it's more to the light side then i now prefer, but my eyes actually look more normal and not puffy.
Yes, gloat away tocks.
Mink&Sable looks great with Smoke&Diamonds too... i used abit of Gulf Stream on the inside to bring out the green of Mink&Sable and to lighten the colors abit. I'm waitingfor Antique Green from Overrich and i bet it will look even better with those 2 then Gulf Stream.
The browns really caught my eye in this collection. i used Go and Grand Entrance as a highlight, and it gave the simple (and fast) look though it may be abit mature on me. I ended up getting Bold&Brazen to addit to the mix and with Orpheus, it added on a new meaning to my 'simple' look.
Top Hat goes really well with Lotusland. Add abit of Violet to the inside brightens it up but still keep the dark elegant look to it. It's the first time purple works so well for me. I toped it off with Naked as a highlight and as always, it's the perfect touch. I forgot to take a picture of this combination and i'm too lazy to upload it again. (and i forgot how i got the browns to turn up with decent looking color and not the slightly wash off color of the rest. My room light is bad...)
Even though Solar White from Cool Heat is a fantastic highlight color that fits every color, i'll still say Naked wins hand down. I did not really like it when i got it at first as the color is not really coming out, but afte pressing it, it's wonderful. I'll totally recomand everyone to get Mac Naked Pigment and press it. It can be used as a highlight or even to mute your eyeshadow colors if it's too strong for your taste.
For the Starflash collection, i'll recomend Smoke&Diamonds if you like dark colors and Orpheus, it's wonderful.
New View Minealize Skinfinish came out at the same time as Starflash... abit slow but oh well.
I just use abit of the Natural under my eyes after eyeshadow nearer to my nose and the shimmer under my eyes outwards horizontally instead of upwards as according to tocks, it will prevent my face from looking too long. Right. I just bought this as i want to get a pressed powder as the makeup stylist at one of the shoot used it (with a fan brush) to define my eyes and nose and i think it's cool. Hahaha
The new collections Cult of Cherry and Overrich is out in the States but will have to wait till about 1st week of September to be out in the Mac Store. Raffles Place will launch it first apprently, but the exact date i'm not too sure.
I've tried the colors already though, and Antique Green is a must get if you are into greens. Museum Bronze is also a great color to have, but it could be alittle too dark to some. Trust me, the swatches on the Mac site do these colors no justice. They brought back Mauvement in this collection, but i'm not too crazy over it. It's actually kind of an in between of Circa Plum and Kitschmas.
Cult of Cherry is not very impressive overall. The 3 pallets's color are too similar to those in pasts collections (some are repeats) and regulars. It's quite cheep though seeing a pallet of 4 for $65. (counting as $21 for each pans and $9 for the pallet )The only one that i'm mildly interested in getting is Shadowy Lady. Although the blue is much like Blue Flame, it will be a good set to carry around with you when you travel or for touch ups. The other 2 plallets are tooo... weird and dull for my taste. The Blooming blush is pretty though, but seeing i just got Gleeful from Sonic Chic, i'm not very keen on getting it. The other one, Plum du Bois, is too dark to even consider. The lip stuff are pretty, but not my kind of thing, but Rapturous is reallllly pretty, and those who like red, should totally get it. Nail polishes, Illegal Purple. A must get for all who like cream colors.
They have very limited stock for the nail polishes and Overrich pigments so act fast once it's out!!
