Michigan Dodgeball Cup 2007
Sunday was the Michigan Dodgeball Cup at Michigan State University. I picked up Katie first cause she wanted to come, then came to school to pick up Mike G.
Adrian wasn't coming, but I still had to pick up the dodgeball shirts from him. Had to wait a few minutes cause he was at the apartments. Got those and went on our way.
The ride up went by fast, though there were times on I75 where I had to slow down because of some snow on the roads. Made a quick rest stop and continued on our way.
Got to MSU at about 10:45am. Got changed and put stuff in my locker. At 11am, the refs had to meet to discuss various things like rules, ball pressure, things like that. Then we sat around for a while, until the first game.
The first game was Delta vs MSU. I reffed for that came as a shot clock counter (meaning if a team was down to 5 or less players, they had to get rid of 1 ball every 10 seconds.) Delta ended up winning that game to move to the finals. I think the score was 2-1.
The next game was us vs Grand Valley. I was kinda worried first off because they killed us 13-0 last year at the MDC, and a few months ago they killed MSU 16-0. Personally, I think we did awesome, especially the first half. We slowed it down big time and gave them some competition for quite a while. My best playing came that first half where I made numerous catches, one being right between my legs haha. Everyone except the GV section was cheering me on, it was great! I can't wait to see the videos for that. We ended up losing the game 9-0 but made great improvement compared to last year.
Because we lost, we had to play again against MSU for 3rd place. I didn't play so well in this game, and as a team we played pretty bad too. Lost 8-0 for that game.
The finals was between Delta and GV. I reffed this game too despite being exhausted, and had a headache. It was a pretty easy game to ref cause the pace slowed down greatly. Grand Valley ended up winning 4-1.
So after all that I got my stuff and left. Paul ended up winning 2 free medium pizza's from Dominos so Paul, Peter, Mike, Katie, and I went to get those. We waited inside Dominos for them, but there was no seating. Then I felt like I was going to pass out but thankfully the pizza's were done as I was ready to go back to my car. We ended up eating the pizzas in my car which was fine, and kinda fun actually.
After that we left, and the ride home was alright, just had cruise control on and relaxed. Dropped off Mike, then Katie, then came home and went to bed shortly after that.
Once I got home, I found out that I, along with Paul H was named All Tournament Players for Oakland, which was pretty sweet.
Tomorrow I meet with Demond about getting some home games as well as a few other issues.
