groundhog day...

Ok I was watching the news this morning, and they showed the groundhog to see if he would see his shadow. As I was watching this, I could tell the sun was out cause I could see other people's shadows. They then announced that he did not see his shadow...how does this work out? Was there a tree in his way or something. Watch this video and let me know what you think, or am I going about this the wrong way?
