‎"...Love it will not betray you, dismay or enslave you, it will set you free..."

I just wanted to tell everyone that my birthday weekend was epic. I have the best girlfriend in the world. And I also have the best best friend in the world.

Friday night I went to Angela's. She made steak and we watched "Amelie" which is my all time favorite film. It was around 10pm and I was exhausted. I was falling asleep on the couch so I told Angie I was going to go lay down. She kept trying to convince me to stay up, telling me if I go to bed she'll 'miss me'. Even thats too sappy for her. I ended up going and laying down. She comes into the room around 11 and will.not.stop.talking to me. By this time I am just incoherent, I am that tired. I am slowly dozing off and then her phone rings. She gets up, answers it and then comes back into the room.

Angie: "Get up."
Me: "Dude, what? Its almost midnight!"
Angie "June [her coworker] is on her way over here with a birthday present.
Me: "I'm in my pajamas...with no bra on!"
Angie: "I don't care. Get up."

I drag myself out of bed and sit in the living room with a blanket wrapped around me.

There's a knock at the door.

Angie: "Thats for you."

I get up and open the door and standing there is my best friend Fahlen who lives in another state and who I haven't seen in almost two years. Needless to say there was much shouting and yelling and crying and cussing. It was hilarious. Even now, days later I laugh and tear up a little when I think about it. Angie flew her out here for my birthday as a present. The plan was for me to go see Fahlen in May but ticket prices shot up 100 dollars in a matter of days. So Angie quickly found a cheap ticket and flew her here. They've been planning it for almost a month. Everyone knew. Angie had a party a few weeks ago and every single person at the party knew what she did for me. I can't believe everyone was able to keep it a secret and for so long! We stayed up late talking and laughing and joking about it. Then on Saturday Fahlen did my make-up (she's a make-up artist) and we all went out to dinner with a group of friends and then went to this awesome bar near Angie's house. It is my new favorite hang out. It reminds me of a bar in Brugge. Its in a cellar and its a good mixed crowd. As the night wore on they started playing cheesy 80's hair band music and the whole bar was singing along. I have to say in all my years I have never felt such love than on my 28th birthday. Even Angie's friends who I have only met a few times came out and celebrated with us. I left my camera at Angie's place otherwise I'd upload some pictures for you guys to see.

On Sunday I took Fahlen and Angie over to meet my parents. It was the first time they've ever had three lesbians in the house at once. It was pretty hilarious but everything went well. My mom likes Angie and she was glad to finally meet Fahlen.

I adore my life.
