All was still
My saul and my Raffie are going on a week-long trip with grandparents today. I woke up at 6 and panicked, not sure if it was 8:30 and they’d already left. I thought I’d heard them. I got up and wandered around the house.
It was so creepy. Everyone was asleep, and the sun was up, but the sky… was yellow and hazy to the point where I doubt you could see the sun. But not hazy with clouds. Hazy with smoke, from the world being on fire. California and Canada in particular are burning.
The muted, weird light was coming in the windows and everything about it was unnatural. My lizard brain was throwing alarms, making my skin crawl. Everything felt ominous. Tornado skies are yellow, kind of like this. Nothing else is.

Friend M: Tornados? More fire? Aliens? What do we have today?
Me: dangerous thunderstorms theoretically. This sky looks like tornadoes but I think it’s just that half the world is on fire and we’re choking on the smoke.
M: so no pants needed.
Me: yeah it’s an indoor apocalypse day
