The only difference being I dont smoke pot......fashioncrazedSeptember 12 2005, 22:39:20 UTC
Reading this entry really reminds me of my last relationship. Only I'm the slob.
I never tried to change my ways because I don't think relationships should be about "changing" the object of your affections. The way I saw it I'm an aimless, sloth-like, sloppy home-body, and I want to be loved for being an aimless, sloth-like, sloppy home-body. Don't get me wrong, I understand where both you and my ex were coming from, we all want the best for those we love. I just want my self improvement to be self induced, and not come out of some "need" to get someone off my back.

I must say, though a rare event when it comes to LJ comments, but, I agree.
Its O.K. to want the best for your significant other, but self improvement is exactly that, "self" improvement. Mark has to actually want to make those changes in his behavior for himself rather than doing it because it bothers you.
Of course that doesn't apply to every dispute in a relationship for Im a strong believer in compromise, but when it comes to a change in lifestyle were talking about a a completely personal and individual affair, separate from the relationship.
all you have to worry about is whether or not your willing to overlook the consequences if his decision is to not make a change.
how do you like those marbles?
dont take this too seriously, I tend be full of shit sometimes.
