Book Lists

Recently, xchryseisx asked me for a list of up to 10 of my favorite books. Books I've read, loved, thought everyone should read. She gets these lists from people and then works her way through them, book by book.

After much editing, I came up with my 10 titles, listed below in the (rough) order to which I was first exposed to them.

Arcadia. Interesting. Did you see the play or read it? Do you read plays frequently?

This seems a much more serious list than mine...(you can check it out on my page, I won't clutter yours :)

I've seen Arcadia (twice, I think) and read it (also twice?). I wouldn't say that I read plays frequently, but once in a while I do get the urge to do so.

And yes, with the exception of The Far Side, these books do tend toward the serious. On the other hand, parts of Thursday, Arcadia, Scaramouche, and Shantaram made me bust out laughing.

Actually, several of my "runners up" are quite silly (e.g., Dahl's My Uncle Oswald and Goldman's The Silent Gondoliers). But for the "top ten" I think I went for books with more personal emotional significance.
