(no subject)
the past few days:
-sister and her roommate being in town for just about 24 hours. hanging out with them, going into boston and walking around in the awesome fall weather. appreciating the treats she brought me. also appreciating the rest of my books and records that i left at her house in jersey from this summer. also appreciating just hanging out with my sister, cuz she is way cool and i miss my family these days.
-setting up and putting on the dear nora/family outing show. meeting jody bleyle who is oh my god my fucking HERO. totally friendly and down to earth. and talented, and hot, and all that. and, like, uhh, she was in team dresch (i was all, "yeah, i used to listen to your old band a lot," verrry casual, slipped in the middle of a longer conversation, and she was just like "okay, cool.") she was wearing pants with rhinestones down the sides (like the pants that you gave me, nimmy, with the silver studs down the sides). the show was good, but very tiny. about 10 people in attendance besides members of bands. we weren't allowed to clap during katy's set, it was like one long extended song, each one running into the next, with minimal stories and explanations in between. i bought a t-shirt it says "family outing" on it in pink ink.
-catching most of sleater-kinney's set. hi, they are rock stars. it was a huge rock show at a huge venue with a trillion people, felt a lot like going through the motions, like a well-rehearsed sequence of "greatest hits." when did that happen? my favorite parts were when they played songs from "call the doctor" -- during "stay where you are" i was bouncing and singing along to all the words while everyone around me drank their beers.
-when am i going to do my reading for school???
p.s. i am feeling much better now, thanks. i am very very busy all this week, but this weekend i want to see my friends again. i miss you!
