List 10 songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now, shaping your summer. Post these instructions in your LJ along with your 10 songs. Then tag 10 other people to see what they're listening to.
1. The Hush Sound - Hurricane. This is my most played song on my iTunes since my hard drive died in May. This is because it's my Leaving Dublin song, about "the hurricane I'll never outrun". Its melancholy and beauty really speak to me, and sometimes when I'm in the right mood I'll just put it on repeat.
2. Lostprophets - Last Summer. A song about leaving friends, about the blessed golden days before you part. I listened to this a lot in my last weeks in Dublin, sometimes crying, sometimes smiling. It still makes my heart twinge.
3. Empires - Believe! This whole album has been a constant this summer, but this song is so uplifting and glorious. It just makes me want to sing at the top of my lungs. I can't believe I get to see these boys play in FIVE DAYS!
4. Panic at the Disco - Mad as Rabbits. A song about love. This, to me, is the most powerful song off the album.
5. The Hush Sound - Break the Sky. Somehow empowering and mournful at the same time. The words are about strength - "Why do I need anyone else, when I can break the sky myself?" - but there's also saying goodbye and loneliness in that strength. Again, I can't believe I get to see them in two weeks. I'm going to cry.
6. The Academy Is... - Rumored Nights. I like the other new ones (About a Girl and His Girl Friday) but this is the one I want to put on repeat. I'm not even sure why! It's just snuck into my brain. I can't wait for this album.
7. My Chemical Romance - Untitled (Live at Maxwells). The lyrics are a little cheesy and lack the cheerful winks at death that I love, but this song still has all the characteristic crunch and grittiness of this band (Three Cheers-type! Which gives me SUCH JOY), and I will fucking die if we don't get an album within 2 years, MAX.
8. Anberlin - Paper Thin Hymn. These guys aren't particularly unique or genius, but they're fun and catchy and I had a great time seeing them at Warped. This is an awesome song to bop around my apartment singing my lungs out to.
9. Something Corporate - Fall. I loved SoCo in high school, and I've recently rediscovered my love. This song was always one of my favorites, and sometimes it will catch me by surprise with tears in my eyes. The beginning gets me right in the stomach - the slow, tantalizing build up and crash in with the drums. I go outside, to my surprise the sky had landed.
10. Panic at the Disco - Northern Downpour. A favorite from the get go, and I don't think I have to explain why. Northern downpour sends its love...
