And now ladies and gentlemen, for your mass consumption, let's have some of that ol' pop culture.
Nirvana's Kurt Cobain, The Clash's Joe Strummer, The Ramones' Joey Ramone, Sex Pistol's Sid Vicious. Promoting Doc Martens boots from beyond the grave. The tiny word under the DMs logo says FOREVER. Which is kinda freaky in this context.
"We wanted to communicate that Dr. Martens boots are 'made to last,' " explains writer Andrew Petch, "and we discovered that these idolized musicians wore them. Showing them still wearing their Docs in heaven dramatized the boots’ durability perfectly. And, as images, they feel very iconic."
Funnily enough, I don't remember Kurt Cobain wearing DMs. Wasn't he a Converse boy? Joey Ramone too wore sneakers instead of boots. Sid and Joe wore boots. Not often and not DMs to my recollection.
The 4-skins wore DMs though. They're not good enough to be on an ad? Or are they not dead yet?
