All the initiatives I wanted to pass did pass, go California!! I don't even know what the props were in Washington. Ours were pretty interesting so if any of you guys want to fill me in that would be super. And my state went to Kerry, so I have to hard feelings. Oh well, four more years. The only thing that worries me about the gay union thing is that if a Supreme court judge dies or retires (VERY likely to happen in the next four years) Bush will appoint a very conservative judge and then he will be able to pass nation wide laws against it. Which is scary, especially for me, I love my aunt and I want her to have the same rights as everyone else in America. I've decided that the Democratic candidates for 2008 should be Obama (the ONE African American in the senate), Hilary (cause it just wouldn't make sense otherwise, or Edwards (cause I like him). For Republicans it should be Juliani or McCain, just cause it makes sense. Although I think Colin Powell should run, I like him. Wow, this comment turned out to be longer than I intended. I wonder if anyone will actually read it, or just skim over cause it's so long. Eh. I'm seeing Coheed and Cambria tonight!! Go me!!
so what is your opinion on legally binding civil unions, so that homosexual couples can be together and have teh same rights as a heterosexual couple. not gay marriage mind, but gay civil unions that are just as legally binding, because i do believe that marriage is a christian institution.
I don't beleive I ever mentioned "marriage" in my blurb. Right now, if my aunt had a civil union, most states don't recognize that. So if her partner got into a car accident in Kansas and was in critical care, my aunt couldn't see her cause she's not "family". Bush wants to take away that if he can. Anyway, that's all i'm saying on it, i'm done with politics until 2008. I'm sick of arguing over it.
i don't believe i ever accused you of mention marriage, i just asked what you thought of it. i completely believe that your aunt should have teh exact same rights as every other married couple in teh united states. i completely believe that if your aunt's partner got into a car accident and was in critical care, that she should have teh right to be let in to see her because she IS family. And I think a situation should be taken care of where everyone in teh united states, gay or straight, is required to get a civil union to be united with their partner, and if they so choose they can later get married in a church, if that is also what they want. but i think legally binding civil unions is the way to go. i wasn't arguing, i was asking your opinion. two completely different things.
