Taking Stock

Anxiety has been getting the best of me lately so it's time for a reminder that I don't suck nearly as much as I would have my Self believing. The monsters can't win.

This year alone I have purchased and moved in to a house. I also purchased a washer, dryer and french door fridge for which I payed cash (happy valentine's day).

I was able to determine what it is that makes me unhappy (miserable) in my profession allowing me to leave the hospitals and take a leadership position with an organization that I believe in. While there are challenges at the end of the day I can still say I did good stuff for others and myself. It has also given me a resume boost and a financial boost. I also received a raise after 4 short months. The new job is far from perfect but it is definitely a few steps in the right direction.

I have wrangled my student loans. I have made payments consistently for well over a year and even paid more than the minimum each month. I have renewed for income based repayment plans before the deadline and should have 9 years left to go. Let's do this!

I have purchased a brand new car. I fought my anxiety over having a car payment for the first time in well over 20 years and won. I had a small down payment and got the car I wanted with all of the available options. I get in to my car every morning and grin. Me and Sloane, we are going to do just fine together. The first payment happens in a few short weeks. Again, I will pay more than the minimum and apply to refinance with my credit union in 6 months - improving my credit score and pay off well before the due date.

I am contributing regularly to my retirement accounts. I have even recovered an old IRA that I forgot about that has a very small amount but hey, those few thousand dollars are mine - no need to loose that! I still don't see an actual retirement but life is funny and often will work out if you do your work and get out of the way. Balance!

Christmas shopping has started! My pile of gifts is slowly growing.

A vacation is happening. Nothing exotic or fancy but Savannah in October - frugal and its someplace I have always wanted to visit! Bucket list item check.

So there! Take that Inner Demons - I don't completely suck. I still have many things to accomplish, but I have a good start. I am successful.
