You Are a Retrospective Soul

The most misunderstood of all the soul signs.
Sometimes you even have difficulty seeing yourself as who you are.
You are intense and desire perfection in every facet of your life.
You're best described as extremely idealistic, hardworking, and a survivor.

Great moments of insight and sensitivity come to you easily.
But if you aren't careful, you'll ignore these moments and repeat past mistakes.
For you, it is difficult to seperate the past from the present.
You will suceed once you overcome the disappoinments in life.

Souls you are most compatible with: Traveler Soul and Prophet Soul

What Kind of Soul Are You?

Ok then..i figured i'd start off with that which is quite cool and i think actually describes me fairly well. now, umm wanted to update since LOTS has happened and i just want to get it all down so 20 years from now when i re-discover my livejournal i'll be all reminiscing and that's just lovely. ok first of all:
AMELIE!! the GREATEST movie ever created. ever. if you have never seen it/never heard of it, rent it from Blockbuster. It was hilarious, warm, ingenious, and made me feel like i could never stop smiling because it was just such a great film that left such a deep impression on me. So anyway, saw it last friday night at ali's house after nhding for a little while with alex. Alex was actually the one to suggest watching it since he's the avid movie-goer person who knows of all these great films i've never even heard of.

le trouble...and potentially getting kidnapped by a few "saviors" (which of course didn't work out) so my mom was pissed at me. REALLY angry. and she still is i'm sure, but it's not as bad, i just have to watch my words and be really really really good in every way, shape, and form. ugh. what i did doesnt much matter, it's nothing anyone would think to be terribly serious but it's just that i "defied" my mother's rules that pissed her off most. i'm technically grounded i believe, but i still have computer/phone priveleges and such, so it's all good. so then i was really depressed all weekend, and ali, who was partly at fault on friday which is when i got in trouble (after i came home from seeing Amelie and totally unaware i had done something wrong), wrote an email to my mom saying all this stuff about how i'm still a good kid and not to be mad at ali or the fact that we're friends. my mom took it totally the wrong way, which made her angrier at Ali, which made the whole ordeal worse for me. Monday i was ridiculously depressed and received many hugs from people, which did help matters slightly (thanks you guys), but i still felt very low and upset. Oh and the kidnappers...katrina, marissa, kara, heather, and ali...were going to come figure out a way to rescue me from my miserable home, and suggested spiking my mom's drink with Valium. hehehe.

NYC...My New Home Home is where you hang your heart, right? Well i definetely left my heart in NYC and that's where I want to be. i've always loved the city some extent (at least more recently-it used to terrify me when i was younger) but tuesday, when i went to manhattan with Ali and Alex to interview Richie Furay, it was simply divine. besides the fact that i missed almost an entire day of school =) So here's how it went:

-Monday-we receive an email from Richie Furay, this ex-rocker dude who used to be in a band that sang a really famous protest song saying that he's willing to be interviewed and arranged a time tuesday morning that he would be available, so we wrote back and got it all set and then tuesday morning, ali's dad picked us all up from school at 9:45, which meant i only went to first and second period (extended homeroom day!) and off we went.

-First we arrived wayy earlier than we needed to be there so we happened to be right next door to a starbucks...mmm one caramel mocha later and i was one HAPPYY person. We were all mature and film-crew like with our tripods and cameras, it was quite cool. So then we went around the block because we had time to kill and eventually find our way back and up the stairs of this city center building to where we were supposed to meet Richie. The building was full of studios and we started walking towards one, which we thought could possibly be where he was, and some random song starts playing (a really cool song) so we decide to not barge in, but walk upstairs insteaad, where another song is playing, but one that is much more upbeat and kind of Latino...it felt so surreal with all of the random music bursting out of the rooms, it could have definetley been a scene from a movie. So finally we decide to get up some courage and knock on hte door of the Christian Fellowship society (Richie is a born-again, hardcore evangelical minister...) and he was all there and happy to see us.

-The interview was decent, he said some really hot stuff in the beginning and then kinda was useless for a lot of it, but we got in a good minute of awesome words probably, i have to tinker with it on my computer and then we shall see how much can be put into our video. At about 12 o'clock or so the interview was finished and we felt pretty good about our mad nhd/video equipment skills.

-So it was time for lunch. We wandered around a bit looking for a nice place to eat and disccovered th Un Deux Trois cafe which had crayons in the window with the words Un, Deux, and Trois on them (really giant crayons that ali video taped to show Mr. Avalez). we then ate some damn good pizza in a place across the street which also served "political heroes"...the George W. Bush hero, the Candolisa (spelled exactly like that) Rice hero, the Bloomberg, the Patacki..and so on. i think i would have liked to eat George Bush. It would have felt oddly satisfying i'm sure. On our way to lunch, we overheard this wonderful snippet of conversation:
"I'm freezing my butt off out here. But I guess that's what happens when you're an heiress."
-Ahh the joys of the oddities of new yorkers. we loved seeing all of the random outfits/hats everyone was wearing.
-Other wonderful discoveries: the Mysterious Bookshop, $2 handmade finger puppets, PINK-such a cool looking store, just by the name alone, Videotaping randomness, making richie feel really bad about suggesting we sit cross-legged on the floor (which he said jokingly) when ali mentioned that she couldnt sit on the floor since she was wearing a skirt..way to make the minister feel guilty =)

Oh it was such a joyous day. tis a pity we couldn't find yoko anywhere on the streets to have a random interview. that would have made it even better and given us an excuse to stay there longer...

LOTF TRIAL!The Lord of the Flies trial is over..and the verdict? NOT GUILTY!! Woohoo go defense lawyers (taht would be me..at least i was head defense attorney, alex metz was assistant DA). i can't believe its over...i defintely did not prepare well enough, but it was quite fun, even though yesterday (which was the first day of it) dragged a bit since i was completely out of it and the prosecuting attorneys (alex weisler and jaison paul) weren't all that lively either. But whatever, apparently i have enough skills to get Roger off when being charged for the murder of Piggy, or should i say, Dalton Dinton. Elyse played the part of Piggy's aunt (Ophelia Dinton) and was WONDERFUL! She (prompted by katrina a few times) burst out crying on the stand and screamed out murderer at roger and such. twas quite the shizzz.henry-ben paul-the corrupt witness. Mr. Johnny Casino. oh yes it's all good. although Andrew Ryan was judge and would not sustain any of my very valid objections, whereas he sustained ALL of the prosecution's. grrr.
Ali was defense attorney for her class (against andre) and lost sadly, but they did the whole Roger was crazy route, which pissed andre off because he had no knowledge of their case for the defense. theirs was much more exciting, so i've heard, but what can you expect from my class. it's first period for god's sake...it's not easy to be an attorney that early in the morning.

Academic League Yesterday had academic league, i got a very minimal number of questions, but i think it was probably more than last time so that's a start. and i think i should start reading and memorizing my spanish dictionary so i can get all of the Spanish questions and beat Jason Kirschner who is a Spanish genius. and Harry Nangle arrived, to whom i then said enthusiastically, "Wow, you're harry nangle?! You're famous!" oh dear i'm such a strange little freshie. but he IS famous. and got a ridiculous number of questions correct. Oh yes and the pizza sale that actually did occur though i thought it wasn't...um yea apparently they paged me over the loudspeaker yesterday to pay for the pizza (no i wasn't kidnapped by the pizza guy, i just couldn't hear it for some reason) and then it took FOREVER to sell the pizza and we had to lower the price so this group of really rowdy/scary guys started trying to beat down the price to a dollar a slice, which i of course would not allow, and eventually we ended up just taking an entire pie to academic league..where it was consumed in about 5 minutes. but it was quite the adventure trying to not get beaten up by these large, menacing ghetto people. gotta love my mad negotiating skills and stubborn resolve at times =)

I PROVED MR. SPENCER WRONG and he admits it. but won't give me the extra points on our test. how uncool is that?! so then all during the double period and after school when i went in for test corrections i was harrassing him. it was just so easy today. i was in a mood to make fun of someone, might as well be my teacher ;-)

and i leave you with this spencer quote to none other than our very own John the genius:
"Relative dating! and no john, this doesn't mean dating your sister."

love,
jess
