Time: Mid-morning to evening on December 25th
Warnings: Possibly angered passengers who dislike their gifts.

Summary: It's time for the passengers to exchange presents with their partners and whoever else they bought things for.

[[ For those who want to do something else, like admire the tree, eat some Christmas cookies, or just to watch A Christmas Story.

On the couch, Molly sat with the remote control on her lap. Christmas tended to be more boring to her after the mid-morning excitement was over. All there was left to do, at least in her case, was to sit there and watch whatever Christmas specials were on TV. Unfortunately, she had to sit through another viewing of A Christmas Story. "I hate this movie."

Walking in, George plopped down on the couch beside Molly, holding onto a candy cane.

"What movie?" she asked, looking at the tv. "Oh, hey. I know this."

Glancing away for a few seconds, she watched George sit down next to her. "You do?" It had been a long time since anyone had said they'd seen something from the same world as her. Most of the time, Molly thought she was the only person from a modern era.

"Yeah. A Christmas Story, right? Jesus, how long's it been playing?"

George broke open her candy cane out of its plastic container by breaking it in half, and handed the hooked part to Molly.

"Want some?"

"For, like, hours now. They keep repeating it over and over! It's not even that funny." Looking at the candy cane half, she smiled, taking the piece. "Thanks. I love candy canes."

"I dunno. It kind of grows on you, after a while. Just not for hours and hours of repeats." George sunk deeper into the couch, biting into her half. "And you're welcome. I like 'em too."

"Where are you from? I'm from Los Angeles...2007." Molly took a bite of the candy.

"Seattle, 2003. Anything good happen in the next four years I should know about?" George picked up the remote and flipped through the channels to find something that wasn't A Christmas Story, but with no luck.

[powerfulbruiser]

"Er, George Bush becomes president again." Her eyes were settled back on the TV as she watched what was going on. "Why does that lady have to wrap so much clothes on the kid..? So dumb."

"Shit, really? I never voted for him....Actually, I never voted. Probably wouldn't have even if I was old enough, last election."

Looking back to the tv, George tilted her head. "It's supposed to be funny, because he can't get his arms down. Or not really laugh-out-loud funny, just kind of memory-related funny. Because it's so fucking cold out."

Since Molly had never experienced severe cold weather (the closest being her short trips to New York City), she had no idea of what that was like. Either way, she found the whole affair lame. "I don't get it." Slumping in her chair, she wore a bored expression as she watched the movie.

"Well...Go live somewhere other than California for a while. Being a kid in places where it reaches below the freezing point tends to alter your point of view every now and again."

"Yeah." George said after a moment. "Sorry. I don't mean to lecture or anything. Just bored. And lonely. And bored. It's Christmas, and....watching tv. It sucks."

"That's how Christmas is always like for me back home. Like, everyone just watching TV after opening presents. ...Or...it used to be that way." Looking down, she fought off some of the sad memories that had been stirred from within.

"Yeah, exactly." Staring at the tv, George thought back silently on her own "used to be", with her family.

Glancing over at Molly, she spoke again,

"Soooo...what's your name?"

Taking another bite, she replied between chews. "I'm Molly Hayes. What's yours?"
