The entrance gate to the field was opened, seeing as it was about time to get things started.

For anyone who decided to enter, there were some blue and yellow fireflies dancing nearby to the gate.

Entering the field, Cynthia seemed eager to get started. She figured she would take the simple, scientific approach to this.

"One of each type should suffice. I'll have to stay alert for them." Noticing the blue and yellow lights moving through the air in front of her, she wondered how many colors there were in total. She'd have a good time trying to catch them all.

Hinata's methods were a lot less... refined. She was jumping at any firefly that would light up near her, trying to catch them between cupped hands, but failing rather miserably. None the less she was laughing and seemed to be having a lot of fun even though she kept falling flat on her face.

Cynthia seemed amused by how Hinata was going about trying to catch fireflies. The girl's enthusiasm was definitely worth noting. Perhaps a small push in the right direction would help, the woman thought.

"Hina, would you like some pointers from a veteran?" She made an offer to the girl, trying to grab her attention after a failed attempt.

Hinata pushed herself up, looking up at Cynthia as she offered her some advice. She got up, dusting herself off, and then gave Cynthia and eager smile. "Ah! Yes thank you, Cynthia-san! I would really appreciate it!"

She laughed a little and rubbed the back of her head. "So far I'm not having much luck."

"I'm glad to hear it." She spoke a bit proudly, pleased that Hinata seemed eager to learn.

Handing over a glass jar, she began her quick lesson. "The first thing you need to know, even before you start catching, is how you plan to keep it caught." Taking a brief pause, she removed the lid from the jar to demonstrate. "It might be easier to lure them into a trap than to just chase after them straight out." She offered the jar over to Hinata after placing the lid back on.

Hinata truly looked impressed. Cynthia really had it all planned out! She was such a smart lady! She took the jar, examining it. "Thank you very much!"

A trap... Hmm... But how does one go about luring fireflies? She looked back to Cynthia snd smiled. "would you like to try and catch them together?"

"All you need is a little patience and good judgment." Cynthia gave an encouraging grin, not wanting to interfere too much at this point. "How about you try it on your own with the jar? Look for a bug you can reach, and see if you can guide it into the jar with your hand."

"I'll try very hard!" After all, Hinata had patience in spades, though 'good judgement' was maybe a little questionable. But she smiled and began trying what Cynthia suggested, and was getting much closer to actually catching some than she was before.

Satisfied that Hinata was showing some improvement, she took a look around the area for anything interesting. As luck would have it, such a thing was there to be found.

"Hina, look there for a moment." Taking a few steps to where the girl was, she pointed at something nearby. "Do you see that pink one?" Cynthia hoped she would also notice the pink firefly. "It almost seems one of a kind."

Hinata had managed to catch two blue fireflies, then stopped as Cynthia approached her again and got her attention. She spotted the pink firefly, watching it fly around and flash it's light. "It's so cute..."

She smiled, "Should we try to catch it?"

For those more interested in fireflies of a different color, there were many red, green and indigo fireflies dancing around the center of the field.

Amadeus had wandered out and was focusing mainly on the red and indigo fireflies. Green wasn't really his color. He smiled, watching them fly around, trying to find one to focus on and then follow until he could catch it.

He spotted a nice bright red one and began trailing along after it at a relaxed pace.

If anyone was daring enough to trek all the way towards the back of the firefly field, they were likely to come across some orange and violet fireflies out there.

Having arrived a little bit later than anticipated, Tails wanted to get started right away while there was still time. He noticed that there were more people up closer to the entrance, so he made his way straight towards the back of the field, thinking he might be able to find something particularly interesting where the other people weren't looking.
