This Is Getting Annoying
Ok, I know XMG moving from Indiana to Minnesota is crazy. Especially since Matt came to the Iron Range and to be more specific, my hometown. But I honestly have a legitimate job that will also count as internships for both majors.
Is it so hard to believe that something is actually coming a little easy for me?
For my parents, no. They feel things happen for a reason. There is a reason I didn't get the internships at Disney.
For the rest of my family (mom's side), yes!
Lets see when did this all begin. Oh yes, Thanksgiving when my Uncle Joe started questioning me about the job. He proceeded to ask why Matt picked Eveleth. I mean that is the question people are all asking. His wife proceeded to ask me the same questions. Maybe it was to see if my story had changed. They probably went home and compared notes just to see if I was lying.
The Monday following Thanksgiving is when I started my job. I really like the company and the people I work with. But my grandma asks me everyime I see her (which is basically every nite) if I like my job.
Then Christmas Eve rolls around and my parents, brother and I are at Uncle Joe's for the annual Christmas gathering of the families. We have soooooooo much fun here ( I say this as I roll my eyes).
We were eating and my uncle asks how the job is, if i like it, etc. Then out of the blue he asks me if Matt is black or white. Really this shouldn't surprise me because he is a racist, which is even scarier because he is a cop. I looked at my mom and not wanting to ruin Christmas for everyone, I replied white. Then he wanted to know how to spell Matt's name. He typically asks this when he wants to do a background check on someone. Really I wanted to ask him if it matters if Matt is African American or Caucasion.
Then at my grandma's house they all wanted to know if I worked Monday, since Christmas was Sunday. I said yes and that I get holiday pay. My Aunt Patty and Uncle Joe asked this very question Christmas Day also.
My grandma asked me the same question of working Monday at least 20 times. Granted she had a stroke and heart attack four years ago, which she is always happy to tell someone about, but after the tenth time you'd think she'd understand.
The next question out of Aunt Patty, Uncle Joe and grandma's mouth was if I worked January 2. I really wanted to say,"Is that a weekday? If it is I am probably working." But of course the peace needs to be kept in the family and I replied yes and with holiday pay.
So today my mom brought some Thumbprint cookies to Uncle Joe and Aunt Patty's house. So can you guess the first question out of their mouth...
... "How does Angela like her job?"
I seriously think they are trying to discredit Matt. I am so tempted to ask Matt if it is ok for my uncle to run a background check on him to make sure everything is legit. Plus Uncle Joe wants to know the first and last names of everyone that works there. I have learned in the past 24 years of my life that I don't really want to know co-workers' last names because I don't want to have to tell him. I would really like to think that he has more work to do as a Lt. than to make sure my job is legit.
