Thinking about Pasties (Cornish Pasties) again. Short crust is apparently the pastry for the pasty, what I can't quite tell is if this really differs from pie crust. So what to put in the pasty. It seems to me a salmon and asparagus recipe would be awesome. Probably thicker asparagus cut into little pieces. I'm not sure whether or not to use canned or fresh. It's probably worth it to try it with fresh. http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,1645,138181-245199,00.html It seems to me that some version of this recipe would kick ass as a filling. It seems to me that pretty much any filling that's not too wet would be awesome. Something with mushrooms leeks and potatoes also seems like a worthy filling. I have a fennel and carrot dish that might work ok as a filling, but I might want to make a cheese sauce or something with it. Fennel carrot swiss? The fennel and carrot were roasted. Or maybe potatoes and parsnips with the fennel and carrot. hrmm. and maybe a bit of mild cheese like goat or ricotta.
Anyway thinking about pasties.

Made a weird ass dish last night. Fennel greens, carrots, potato, onion, celery, and egg. might have something else oh white northern beans, uh... I'll update if I remember.
