Does anyone have any experience with volunteering in Tokyo?
I've been thinking about doing it for a while, but I'm not sure what kind of opportunities are out there. I'm thinking about things like soup kitchens, halfway houses, etc? I am not even sure that these exist in Japan at all... Planting trees and things like that would be good, too. I'm pretty busy, so I'm not sure about opportunities outside of the city, but I'm willing to take a look at almost anything.
I took a look around and I found a list of places wanted that volunteers to file paperwork and stuff for their companies (not even nonprofit companies!). That seemed a little strange to me, but to each their own I guess. I'm more interested in working directly with the environment or even better, directly with the people that I would be affecting.
Does anyone have any suggestions or resources? Spring is obviously in the air, and it feels like the right time to start these things. ^__^
(sorry I'm not sure what tag to add since there isn't one for volunteering or helping, so I just picked the most appropriate... )
